Bert Marcus Film (“BMF”) is a unique feature film financier and production company specializing in high-quality, commercially impactful, character driven, narrative feature films, that focus on exploring original stories. BMF is producing a robust slate of content, which includes Ophelia (Sundance 2018; IFC), starring Daisy Ridley and Naomi Watts, Bull (Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2019), Human Capital, starring Liev Schreiber, Marisa Tomei and Peter Sarsgaard (post-production).
BMF stemmed from the highly successful track record and team of Bert Marcus Productions, the producers and financiers of the global sensations, Teenage Paparazzo (Sundance Film Festival 2010 / HBO), How to Make Money Selling Drugs (Toronto International Film Festival 2012 / Tribeca Films/ highest grossing film Tribeca has released) (featuring 50 Cent and Eminem), Champs (Tribeca Film Festival 2014 / Starz) (featuring and co-produced by Mike Tyson), What We Started (2018 Netflix), The American Meme (Netflix Original; one of Netflix’s most popular releases of 2018) and The Apollo (Opened the Tribeca Film Festival 2019 and sold to HBO).
Bert Marcus is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bert Marcus Productions and Bert Marcus Film. Cassandra (Cassie) Thornton, J.D. is the COO, GC and a producer at Bert Marcus Productions and a Managing Member and Co-founder of Bert Marcus Film. Cassie is responsible for overseeing and facilitating deal flow and production, increasing business development, project sourcing and managing the day-to-day operations of the company.
Since starting at Bert Marcus Productions in 2012, Cassie has supervised and directed the production, creative direction, sale, delivery, negotiations, marketing and strategy of all of the company’s films and their releases.
Cassie received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University and her law degree cum laude from Fordham University School of Law.
